The Husky was whinning and kicking the walls in the shed, so off we went for a mini-tour of Osceola after almost a month away from it.
Delicious temperature, all the colors and smells of fall... BI-TI-FULL !!
The forest has finally dried out and most trails are passable.
Not very many hunters around, but I went in the afternoon, counting on the fact that beer and football would have thinned out the herd.
I did wear my orange vest. It is so bright that it gave a headache to my dogs.
Only four more weeks of hunting, and counting down.

@queenoslow You should be a book writer, Just by reading your comment I can imagine how much fun it was to be there. Alex (the kingofslow)

G, I want you to know that Alex is doing his best to earn the slow moniker. At the lease on Saturday, he counseled DJ on the benefits of using less gasoline by adopting a more conservative riding speed.

Pushing the choke in also helps conserve gasoline.
Just saying...... ;D

queenofslowAre you talking about the little black round stick that goes in and out ? I thought that was the parking breaks, no wonder I was going so slow ! Alex (kingofslow)

ooooh !!! Is that what the black knob is all about? DJ had explained to me that it is the "sound regulator". Push it in and the bike sounds like a 4 stroke. Pull it out and keep revving and she sounds like a 2-stroke, which he likes better. I am constantly awed by the depth and variety of technical advice I receive from RCDR members. Keep it coming!

GENERAL GUN SEASON IS OVER ! (Photo courtesy of Debbie D.) Fantastic riding weekend in Osceola. The forest is dry and most trails passable. GREAT TRACTION!! Great weather! Soooo much fun! I took both bikes out for a victory lap . The hunters are gone, leaving behind many cartons of Natural Light (eeks!). In this warrm weather the forest was all smiles. I careened through the woods standing on the pegs with a huge grin that said it all: MINE ! ALL MINE!!! ;D ;D ;D Getting shot by smaller calibre bullets will feel like a tickle... let's ride!

@giannova We just bought a "mini bike" for the girls, can't wait to get it running. Probably next week-end, let us know if you go to the lease/Osceola. Alex.

Alex
congrats for the mini bike. I am sure the girls will love it! (Now they will start to ask you for a second one).
Both the lease and Osceola may be a bit daunting for the little ones, at least initially.
I just finished clearing part of the "ranch" at Olustee and it is a much friendlier set up for kids trying to learn than either of those places. I have wide open areas as well as wooded ones. We can put cones down etc.etc.
You are welcome to bring them over next weekend (saturday afternoon would be better for me) and also use the barbecue, bathroom etc.
This invite is extended to members with (well behaved) little kids who want a place to practice. (Kids like Barry Miller's gang and Brad Stanton's, for example).
Older kids at the beginner level may also enjoy it. (Mark W's son?)
Would Barry/Brad or anybody else with kids who really knows how to ride volunteer to teach a friendly, gentle "how to" introduction to riding?
(I may want to take it myself.....)
Let me know ggiovanna@att.net.

I'll be glad to help out, just need to pick a time. February will be tough as we have 3 birthdays and 2 hare scrambles, but should be able to squeeze something in. Can't keep the kids waiting ;D

We're heading out to Osceola Saturday morning. I haven't been on the bike in a while and got a Saturday off. Maybe explore some areas we haven't seen.

@giovanna I have not been riding for a month (except in my backyard tu run the oil). I'm waiting for the "new" mini-bike to be fix, I'm sure the kids will love it (better than waiting for me in the car at the lease) Anyway, see you tuesday at the meeting. Alex.

@giovanna "Come out and ride!", I (we) will, I already heard comments from my mother in law: "your motorcycle is a waste of money, you don't even use it, you should had bought a nice ring to my daughter" Well, there is always a catch, my wife is cute, nice, smart (most of the time) but she also have a mother....

Piece of cake.
Use the bike to get away from the mother in law.
Problem solved.

I agree with Gio that Osceola was as close to perfect as it could be. No dust, no mud, nice temps.
