Most of you dont know me as I have only been a member of the club for about a year and a half. You may have seen me at the meetings with Giovanna (Queen of Slow). I rode when I was much younger but, I hadn't rode in about forty years until about two years ago when Giovanna reintroduced me to dirt bikes. (thanks G for getting me hooked)
I rode at Hard Rock yesterday, second MX track I have ever been on in my life, the first was at the club Christmas party year before last.
Yesterday I rode with three experienced riders, all of us 60 plus years of age. I was on my big KTM 505 XCF and they were on MX type bikes. We rode the hare scramble course twice and the three mx tracks a few times each. The sand track was the biggest challenge for me. I'm used to riding in the sand of the Ocala Forrest but this was much different. The sand was very dry, fluffy, and rutted up. The Outback track was my favorite, high banked turns and small jumps. It was hard and dry but a lot of fun. The main track was a little intimidating at first, especially that gigantic hill. I was a little nervous about the many jumps and would just roll over them until the other riders gave me some tips and rode beside me at a good speed to clear the jumps. After a couple of laps I was jumping pretty decent for my skill level.
At the end of the day we had ridin forty miles, about two and a half hours of riding. I must say my legs are pretty sore this morning but I had a great time.
If any of you are wanting to go ride there during the week, there were only two other riders there. It cost 30$ for the day, the gates open early in the morning. Bring your food and drinks, there are no concessions open during the weekdays.
