Meeting at Spencer Farms on Sunday about 9 to ride and evaluate the existing course. You'll see an entrance 3 miles south of Normandy, on CR217, with a windmill and a camper (orange arrows also posted). Enter through the gate, close it behind you, and look (left) south across the field and we will meet there. Clint

Dj , I loved the Go Pro. I have also been stuck in a ditch at the farm and took me 20 minutes to get out. Your video made me laugh like hell. Thanks man !!

Great video DJ. It didn't look too wet out there.

Hahaha yeah, by the time I got stuck I was sooo tired and winded.
And there are some rideable areas out there, but there's a lot more water than it looks on the GoPro. a lot of the trails are overgrown with grass and there might be some missing arrows out there, but... those 2 things are expected

DJ, thanks for the video. It brought to mind very painful memories. I was saved by Angel Tom (Horton) while working at the Lake City Hare Scramble. The whole bike was sinking by the minute. I felt like the captain of the Titanic.
But the most vivid memory is of the front wheel attempting to climb trees. Some of my victims (= de-barked trees) can still be seen at the Lease.
Kudos to you for getting out of the muck by yourself. I hope you got a good nap afterwards!!

Wow what a ride ! When out to Spencer's Farm today. I met with Jimbo, Brad, Matt, John, Smitty, Art, Kelly and Mitchell plus others .Mitchell and I rode mostly the Jeep roads but Jimbo and the Miller's put in this awesome loop on the SW corner by the mill that was smooth , flowing and dry. Good job boys !! I rode for about 3 hrs what a great day. Clint

That new area was mostly the work of the Millers, I helped a bit. It is ready for arrows and trimming and the field will need posts and double greens (about 5 sets). One of the others was Aki (Bajs rider) was helping Sunday also. We have 5 weekends left to prep. Much of the course is ready for arrows, Brad will be out Saturday and I'll be there Sunday and if I can get a vacation day I'll be there Sat also. All help is appreciated. We meet at 9 AM and put in 5 or 6 hours depending on weather. Anybody have a bush hog, skid steer, forestry cutter, flail mower, combi or the like? We could use some equipment to prep the pee wee course, pull some stumps and level some of the whoops. See you there. Jim.

We've been absent because we're in New England. We'll be back for school, and will be there to pitch in after that. Don't know how big the stumps are you need to move, Jim, but a decent chain or winch cable wrapped several times around, and a slow but steady truck can do wonders.

Did we over ride the course too much last time? I understand it should be hard, but we 20+ riders getting refunds--
Just curious since it was the first race I have worked-

I stopped by Anchor J today. It was completely under water. Up to a foot of water on the parking area, could not get off the road. I waded to take a look at the beginning of the trail and it was completely under water as well. I don't think it'll recede before the weekend with this new rain.

A couple of my buddies were in the mix of dudes who bailed out after practice and from me riding/racing the course it was pretty fast, had lots of whoops and some sand thrown in there a little bit. some guys also did it because the championships were pretty much all wrapped up, if you look at the results, not a lot of people raced the last 3 races or so. i think it's pretty funny and laugh at the people who got their money back... i mean come on. it's offroad moto, not a walk on the beach as the sun's going down. i was really bummed there weren't any logs or anything technical on saturday. some guys are starting to become fragile females I'm afraid

Whoa DJ. "Fragile females"? Ahem...
Check the times of Zoe Steindl and Lacey Nordle. Take off with Lacey and enjoy being lapped when you are half way thru the first lap (and she was probably yawning as she went by). It makes one appreciate the fragility of females....
Lacey was in my Wattsy class in January 2012. I should say: I "attended" the class as most exercises were over my head, while she really participated. The last afternoon of the school she and one very experienced GNCC racer were the only ones with the guts and the skills to tackle the mountains and the giant logs that were put in front of them. Everybody else shivered in their boots and sat it out, including the tough guys from Dade County with the "A" and "B" on their plates. Lacey was fearless and graceful at the same time. A pleasure to watch and a great sportswoman.
I watched her with a huge grin: YOU GO,GIRL!
And I made sure to congratulate her parents when I met them at our HS this year .
I would also like to point out that last year I was one of the top five riders in our club for total off road miles - and at my glacial speed without a doubt the top one for total hours in the seat. Heat or ice did not deter this "fragile female" at the ripeold age of (then) 54. I also managed to bring home- every time- all my bike parts and body parts in the same assembly I had left with. (Not a small feat when following Mundy, Jim or Clint, plus you know what they say: "slowness kills").
In regard to the condition of the course, which caused a higher than usual number of refunds, I agree. Yes, the course was rough in places. Anchor 3 was a new property and it tested the participants to their limit at the end of a busy racing season.
We listened to the comments of the participants and we are working very hard to make the course both less rough as well as more interesting. It is a good property with a lot of potential and we are getting better as we go.
Finally, withdrawing from the race when one is not comfortable with the course is NOT a sign of "pussy-dom". It is a sign of good judgment and knowledge of one's limits. That is why FTR gives refunds- no question asked. There is no need to go over one's head for one race and get hurt. Better to wait it out, practice more and compete when the circumstances are right.
A plastic plaque is not worth one's neck!!!!

Haha that's why I said fragile. I was referring to the pageant queen type. I mean its a race, it's supposed to be a challenge. If people don't want a challenge or want to go on a joyride they should ride in some dual sports
