In the enduro, hare scrambles, and GNCC world, there’s big news: Honda is introducing their new 2017 Honda CRF450RX. Without question, this is their ultimate weapon for serious off-road competitors. At its core, they’ve taken the new CRF450R and optimized it for off-road racing: programmed fuel injection, electric start, an 18" rear wheel, a 2.2 gallon fuel tank, and a handlebar mounted engine mode select button.

Its great to see Honda and other manufacturers putting a serious effort into the offroad world. The 450RX looks like it has a lot of nice ingredients and Honda always makes a great bike. I hope there is a smaller version coming out (i.e. 250/350), as the popularity of the 450's has reduced considerably in recent years, especially in the offroad competition

Barry, even as the owner of a CRF450X, I completely agree with your observation. KTM has set the bar high for many years and Yamaha finally stepped up to the plate with their incredible offerings to the off-road racing community. It is really something to see another major manufacturer join in the mix. Without question, this is a win-win for everyone (regardless of what you ride) since it leads to competition between the brands and this results in improvements to the bikes from the factories. I'm also looking forward to see what else Honda will unveil in the future in a smaller displacement sized bike. With that I'll leave you with a video of the 2017 Honda CRF450RX. Enjoy!

Too bad they don't make a CR250x two stroke with electric start and fuel injected. That would be super cool. The 450 will do great too.

Yes. You can tag a Gas Gas or KTM 2 stroke now. I think Honda did a really cool engine in the late 90's that used oil injection in the case instead of premix with fuel injection. I think if my feebile mind remembers right, they said fuel consumption was reduced and emissions. that was about the time they said they were going to be a four stroke company so the project was scraped. The 250x is tagable so I'm thinking a 450 would be too. It'll be kind of interesting to see if it is any goos for offroad or just a motocross bike with a 18" rear wheel.

Regretfully, all of the Japanese dirt bike MSO's have "For Offroad Use Only" marked clearly on them. This is the "kiss of death" when you try to get any of them tagged in the State of Florida.
The KTM MSO's don't have this statement which is why they are able to be tagged.
