Didn't get as much done as I would have liked, due to 1) ATV rescue mission(no fault of the owner) 2) Lack of able bodied volunteers. More later in the week.

A couple of us are going out Wednesday and scout the start from parking and look at some of the horse trails. Keeping an eye on Sunday weather, and may be changing to Saturday for this weekend. Stay tuned.

Thanks, John. I have a GPS aerial of our ride on the horse side Wednesday, plus I'll draw in where Jim and I have been there, so you get an idea of what else is there. NO CALLS about tomorrow. We'll see.

I hope the following offers some encouragement to all RCDR members that are wondering when the heck RCDR will finally have a decent place for members to ride their dirt bikes: I had the opportunity and privilege to scout out the equestrian side of St. Mary's Shoals on my crf230f on Wednesday, Nov. 25 with Mundy and Jimbo on their utility quads. I saw nice, wide trails and very few of those thick gallberry bushes or pine row furrows that enduro riders have come to know and maybe even love. With the January enduro canceled, we're hoping to focus on scheduling a Club Ride Day soon, exclusively for RCDR members. And with the Baker County park caretakers' approval to use all the park, we'll have a chance to ride and enjoy both the equestrian area, and the single track that we're working on in the ATV area. Note that the equestrian section is otherwise closed to us or any other motorized vehicles at all other times, so it will be a unique riding opportunity. As far as progress with the single track on the ATV side, we're starting to connect the dots among the sections of trails we have laid out. We're still in the preliminary stages in some trail areas. Why? We're trying to keep as much of the single track high and dry(er) even during rainy months, and to avoid excessive crossing of the existing 2-way ATV trails. So for now, mileage and a completion date is a moving target. As always, any additional volunteer help besides the regulars to help expedite trail completion is welcomed and appreciated.

Well said, John. After Saturday's zero turnout, I'm not scheduling another "volunteer Day" until I hear from some members.

One giant loop finally connected. Lot's of face slapper cleaning needed. Will be arrowing very soon. Still have a few other sections to put in at a later date. Good turnout this past weekend, IF we can keep up the # of people, it won't take long to make the trails reasonably easy to follow. It was very "dry" and a good weather week coming up. Plan on next Sunday, as one Saturday's attempt--flopped. Did we mention-- REAL Men's and Ladies rooms!

Thank you Mundy and all the volunteers for all your work. Sorry to have been missing from the action but work has been brutal, the Mighty Mite (aka my little quad) has been in the shop (soon to emerge with new carb and new shoes) and my plans have changed a bit due to Mr.D's unfortunate accident. While zooming in ONF with his son Clint (who is progressing prodigiously on "Grumpy", Mundy's old bike) Darrell encountered a freshly fallen log on the trail behind a blind turn. He dumped the bike and self-ejected. Human flight and subsequent impact with mother earth at XXX miles per hour. (No comment). Luckily he had all his gear on so the only result was a broken collar bone. Very painful and very inconvenient, but it will mend by itself without surgery. Only 6 more weeks.... SIX LOOOONG WEEKS. For now he just sits on his bikes in the garage with his arm in the sling, while moaning and looking rather pitiful. There are only so many utubes of enduros and hare scrambles one can watch. If I were a "I told you" type I would say: a) pre-ride the trail at slower speed before going full blast with the last light of the day b) no need to go full blast-it is is a trail ride, not a race c) your son will (sooner rather than later) be faster than you so just be proud of him... and accept it d) thanks God you had ALL your gear on, or you would now have busted ribs, perforated lung and who knows what other damage. The best part of the ordeal is when the orthopedic surgeon asks: and how did this happen? And the white haired, 66 year old great-grandpa puffs his chest and proudly proclaims: "well I was riding my dirt bike in the forest and..." And the surgeon looks at me like: is he on drugs? Naah, we are just dirt-crazy, that's all. Well, bottom line I may be able to come and give my modest contribution to St.Mary's Shoals the next two or three weekends. Mundy, you are forewarned.... P.S. I know the question on your mind... you perverts! Darrell's bike "Stinky" is fine, not a scratch.

Weather looks great for Sunday, bring your pouch, stapler, staples and machete/loppers. I'll try and pair up "newbies" with members who've been out there on the trails, Quads are still valuable for squashing the bushes. All the scouting is done for now, thanks to 2 members who went on a long walk-about!
