RCDR returned the favor to Daytona Dirt Riders which had helped with our enduro in St.Mary's. A valiant group of experienced RCDR riders manned the checkout point for Section TWo of the Alligator enduro. Here are the valiants. (Mark refused to wear a pink T-shirt.) Experience showed. Camp was set choosing the area with the most and biggest cow patties. The timing crew was awesome. You are looking at 120+ yrs of combined experience, supervised by youngster Barry. The weather situation was challenging. (It is supposed to be an "enduro", not a barbie contest!). The skies had opened during the night and the organizing committee had to make reroute decisions on the fly. Overall the course was rideable and the competitors had positive comments. We were lucky. The rain gods smiled on us and we had no rain for most of the race. BUT... after the race was a completely different story. The part which really tested men and equipment was leaving the race site. The access road was a mud bog (no criticism of DDR!) and getting out with even with a 4 wheel truck was a real challenge. The organizers had enlisted a huge tractor and a skid steer to pull vehicles out of the mud but I suspect there are still some fancy rigs with trailers still there. I loved being able to spend time with my friends. All is well. Keep riding!
