Tried AMSOIL for the first time today mixed 40/1 for the yz125 and cut down on the amount of spooge out of the end of the pipe. Bike ran great but I always think that little bike runs great.
I was using Maxima synthetic at 32/1 and 40/1 with the same heavy coating of oil at the end of the pipe after riding.
Any thoughts or opinions on what you use??

Never used Amsoil on my 2 stroke but always had good luck with Mobil -1 MX2T. 32/1 is what I usually ran.
Factories determine things such as jetting, slide cutaway, and spark plug temperature based on a specific air/fuel ratio. If you put less oil in the gas (ie; 40:1, 50:1, 100:1) then the ratio is off and the mixture becomes richer. Cylinder temps go down, plugs start fouling, oil comes out of the pipes, etc..

Scott Summey I ran the Maxima @ 40/1 with my yz250. If it was a tight race I would notice a little spooge after it. More open races with higher rpms and it was always clean. Are you riding in a gear higher @ the lease? I know those 125's like to sing. I never could ride em because of that

Patrick/Bean,
Thanks for the response. Bean, I generally do ride a gear higher through most of the lease and get on the pipe in some sections, bike is geared 13/51 and I stay mostly in 3rd through 5th with the tight ratio. Tried 12/49 which I really liked as I could stay on top of the gear better since the lease is so tight. I generally don't ride the bike at extremely high rev's. I know that's the performance level for these little two strokes but I can't imagine that it's great for the engine.

Scott, you could try an oil with a lower flash point. Motul makes one. I thinks it's 710 (800 is the one frequently used, but has a flash point of something like 450 vs 175 with the 710). That said, I wouldn't recommend it for a 125 that was ridden in the typical pinned mode. Probably fine for the lease, though.
