We have not had any parties this year (Amy, we miss you! ) and it is not too early to start thinking about our Christmas party. I suggest doing it early this year (say Saturday December 1 or Saturday December 8) so more people will be able to attend. As an idea: I am making available "The Ranch": a pompous name for our modest place in Olustee. There is plenty of room for parking, barbecue, bonfire etc. Kitchen, bathrooms and all creature comforts. Stay as long as you want. There is also room for rv/trailers if somebody wants to stay for the weekend. Also, it is in the Osceola forest and not far from the Lease. So, people so inclined could go for a ride either at the Lease or in the forest, then drive over for the party. Keep it informal. Just a thought to keep in mind if nothing better pops up.

Well i like the idea of the evening party at the Haskell building or a country club... very nice atmosphere for the ones that may not ride. As we have tried it at the lease and at the more formal venues i would say i like it in a more elegant atmoshere. Not as far for people to have to drive as well.just my opinion . Planning now is the right move scheduling a place to have it will get worse as time goes on. Everyone needs to chime in.

Haskell location was nice, BUT, ended up being very expensive. We also have to take in the consideration of having no profits from a H/S this fiscal year.H/S Rain date in spring could still go down the tubes.

I think our neighborhood rents out the community center for such things, and probably other places do, too, but I like G's idea. I think we have to favor doing what we can to lower the budget. Sure, I liked the Haskell setting, too...but you'll wear a tux and have silver, right, G?

A neighborhood clubhouse/community center in the Jax area may work out well too. Less of a drive for most people and a little bit more formal. This may be a nice compromise between "ritzy" and "the boondocks". Thank you for volunteering to explore this option, Debbie! As to the tuxedo, sorry, I do not own one! I have several gowns though, and some still fit!

Sure, I'll call and see if any holiday dates are available, what the costs are, etc.
