Greetings to all.
Lately I was organizing my photos and I found the pics of our latest club party in January 2020. We looked so carefree that day!
Only three months have passed but it feels like eons ago. So much has changed and so suddenly. Who could have imagined that our world would have turned upside down, and our lives with it.
Frankly I found myself angry and resentful that all this is happening, creating havoc and uncertainty in my otherwise happy routine.Virus, what virus. We don't need no stinking virus.
Then I remind myself that I have been incredibly lucky so far in my life; that my parents both lost a parent at a very young age during the Second World War and had to grow up very fast in the middle of death, destruction, illness and poverty while our country, Italy, was in tatters. Yet they were able to complete their educations, worked incredibly hard all their lives and achieved very comfortable lifestyles and professional success. Their generation rebuilt the country from scratch, both politically as well as economically. Compared to what they had to endure and overcome, my life has been a long slide on butter ... (an Italian saying... gives the idea).
So if my parents were alive today they would tell me to get a grip and stop whining. That I am incredibly lucky to live in a prosperous, free country, with my health, a great job and lovely friends and lots and lots of stuff including my two wheeled companions Pumpkin and Pony (well, I added the two bikes but I am sure they would have mentioned them to drive their point home). And I would have to agree and to be ashamed of my bitching.
So, to make a long story short, I want to share my thanks for all the blessings in my life, including the joy of riding with my friends in the woods. Let's all be of comfort and support to each other, and we shall prevail.
Warmest wishes of health, hope and joy in this Easter of 2020 to you and your families!
